Cleaning your silver jewelry at home with baking soda is an easy and simple method. Here are the steps:
Materials:
- Sodium bicarbonate
- Boiling water
- Aluminum foil
- Dishwashing detergent (optional)
- Deep container
- Old toothbrush
- Soft cloth
Steps:
1. Cover the container with aluminum foil, place the jewelry inside the container, and cover it with baking soda. Then, add boiling water and let it sit for a few minutes. This will help loosen dirt and rust.
2. Using your toothbrush, scrub the jewelry, especially the dirtiest or most tarnished areas. Avoid using excessive force to avoid scratching the silver.
3. After rubbing, rinse the jewelry well with warm water and dish soap (optional) to remove any baking soda residue.
4. Dry your jewelry completely with a clean, soft cloth.
5. To make your jewelry shine even more, polish it with your silver cloth or silver file that comes with all your Mil Colores orders.
This method is gentle and safe for 925 silver, but it's always a good idea to test it first on a small, inconspicuous area of the jewelry to ensure it won't cause any damage. Remember, if the jewelry is made of other materials, we recommend checking to see if this method works.
